I believe that any body can benefit from bodywork. Some of the specific reasons people seek bodywork and Rolfing® in particular are: nagging pain, limited mobility or range-of-motion, improving natural posture, enhancing athletic performance, helping mama's body adapt to changes during pregnancy and postpartum, releasing patterns/adaptations from trauma and a deeper connection to Self.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions needed will depend on your goals and what you are looking to achieve. Most concerns that have been present in your body for more than a week or so are usually systemic; in other words, the symptom(s) that you are experiencing is most likely stemming from a compensation or series of compensations that have formed into a dysfunctional pattern affecting most, if not all, of your body. For this reason, a series of sessions will be most effective to address an issue from its various layers and affect it at a core level to transform your entire structure and bring you into a more balanced overall alignment for the most lasting change.
How long is each session?
Each session is scheduled for an hour and a half time frame. However, as this work is not a routine, but rather guided by your body, the length of the session will be determined by when the goals of the session and a feeling of completion have been achieved. Typically, this tends to be within the 75 min range, give or take. *For the initial session, please set aside 2 hours for our appointment. This will include additional time for you to fill out an intake form and to discuss some of the information in greater depth.
What do I wear for the session?
As a holistic practice, I will be assessing your entire structure throughout the process, sometimes in movement (for example, I may have you walk around the room mid-session to check the progress of the work in motion); for this reason it is helpful to see you without excessive clothing to gain a truer understanding of your underlying structure. Typically, I ask my clients to wear their undergarments: bra and underwear, athletic shorts and sports bra, or a swimsuit. Your comfort is primary to me, if you have a strong preference to be more fully clothed please speak with me about it and we will find a solution that will work and feel best for you.
What is the cost of a Rolfing session?
A single (75 min) session is $140. (10% discount applied to all pre-paid 10-series packages.) --*Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. If you feel that this work would benefit you and the cost is prohibitive, I am willing to find a fair and reasonable exchange for my services, please contact me to discuss options.
