The 10-Series
The Rolfing® 10-Series is a sophisticated process of typically 10 sessions* that sequentially build upon the others to advance the whole body into a higher level of organization, as well as bring awareness to and work on re-patterning subtle movement habits for more efficient overall functioning. In the 10-Series, each session is spaced about 1-week apart and focuses on a specific region of the body, in conjunction with balancing the relationships between coordinating parts and understanding how they can work at the most optimal level together--the result is an aligned body with more natural strength, stability and ease of motion, as well as the embodied awareness to understand how our different parts inter-relate and what we can do to maintain this sense of feeling good in our own skin.

Rolfing® Structural Integration is not only the 10-Series process; it can be received in single sessions as well. Structural Integration is effective for acute, "fix-it" work addressing a specific concern in just a few sessions, however if this is your first contact with this type of integrative bodywork, the 10-Series program would be the most comprehensive format to receive a more holistic, all-encompassing view of your body and learn what its inter-related parts are doing. Within the 10-Series framework, as the sessions build upon one another, a lot of the 'magic' of the work starts to be received as deeper layers of the body become more accessible and older, underlying patterns often reveal themselves. Having access to these deeper layers is pivotal to identifying a root cause of an issue. Across-the-board, the goal of every session is to assist in greater alignment and the harmonious orchestration of your whole body; so while we focus on the micro, the macro is always in mind, allowing you to walk out the door at the end of each session feeling whole and complete.
Whether you are receiving a single session or the full 10-Series, every session is tailor-made and as unique as the individual receiving the work. At the start and throughout each session, we will look at what is presenting itself to be the appropriate layer and area to work with. Active participation in the sessions is not required, but the more you engage with what is happening you will begin to make new discoveries about how your body functions and start to make conscious choices to sustain this state of greater integration and well-being as opposed to unconsciously perpetuating the causes of your discomfort and in becoming more aware, you take the reigns as the authority of your own body.

Sessions 1-3: "Sleeve" - The over-arching goal of the first three sessions is to loosen and balance the surface layers of the body's connective tissue (the tissue that holds the bones, muscles, organs and nerves in place). These sessions work on the front, side and back of the body, discovering your unique body map and customizing a plan as we deepen into the process.
**If you are not sure about committing to the full 10 sessions, the end of the 3rd session would be the best time to asses whether you'd like to continue the full program of Structural Integration, as the first 3 sessions can be a complete mini-series, of course without the profound depth of the full 10. Once the Core sessions have begun, due to the deep level at which we will be working, it is best for the stability of your structure to complete the entire series to the end of the Integration sessions.
Sessions 4-7: "Core" - These sessions focus on the deeper layers of the body, known as the "core" musculature. The core muscles assist in finer movements. Integrating at this level turns-on the more fluid orchestration of all parts of your body as a dynamic, multi-functioning being.
Sessions 8-10: "Integration" - The goal of the last three sessions is to organize and align the body as a whole, bringing together all of the information from the previous sessions so the client feels natural living in their newly restructured body and able to seamlessly incorporate what has been learned throughout the process.
**If you are not sure about committing to the full 10 sessions, the end of the 3rd session would be the best time to asses whether you'd like to continue the full program of Structural Integration, as the first 3 sessions can be a complete mini-series, of course without the profound depth of the full 10. *It is not uncommon for people to complete the process in 10-14 sessions, especially if there is greater disorganization/dysfunction in a particular area due to a long-standing injury. If I notice that it would seem beneficial to spend a little more time in a certain area, you and I will discuss this option and decide together what would be the best course of action.
